Powerful Medicine:
Low-cost, high-quality medical care in Bangkok
Taking advantage of superior medical care in Thailand may not be your priority, but think again.
If you’re utilizing medical treatment in your own country, you can find it in Thailand for much less money.
And it may be just as good.
Case in point: as reasonably healthy folks, we’d never even bothered to get medical checkups before.
With a high deductible on our medical insurance in our own country, a physical would cost between $600-$800 USD.
We could buy an air ticket to Thailand for that!
For curiosity’s sake, we stopped into a leading Bangkok close to the BTS Skytrain, and asked how much a physical would cost, and when it could be arranged.
Surprisingly, they could do it right then.
We filled out some papers, and a young lady took us by the hand and walked us over to x-rays machines, blood folks, and what-not.
We were asked to return the following day for results.
On return, we received a nifty 10 page color book with our results in graph format, a chat with a doctor, and a ticket for a complimentary lunch at the hospital cafeteria (we could also have eaten at the two internationally-known fast-food shops in the lobby).
The price? Around 2500 baht, or $60 USD.
That’s about what we paid for a jaywalking ticket in our own country last year.
And our hospital customer rep was a damn site nicer than the traffic warden.
Bottom line, Thai medical care is top-notch, and affordable.
Many of these hospitals drive a significant amount of their revenues from the expat community, and we can see why.
We picked our hospital because it’s close to the BTS Skytrain, so we wouldn’t age ten years on the taxi ride over.
Bangkok hospitals offer standard medical and dental care, cosmetic surgery, and other procedures.
Bangkok medical venues offer a professional and affordable alternative to medical care in your own country, and, in our opinion, are worth investigating.
