Ko Tao is all about diving, with numerous dive operators forming what may be the lion’s share of the economy.
Many dive shops are located in hotels and guesthouses, and you may find that you’ll be charged double or triple the lodging fee if you don’t book a diving trip!
December to March is considered the high season here, where non-dive-related lodging will be trickier.
The dive season, however, runs all year, with visibility greater than 20 meters, at depths of 14-30 meters.
While you’re here, you’ll want to boat over to Ko Nang Yuan, one of the most beautiful islands in the Gulf. It's small enough that with a small hike, you can see the entire three-part island from a hill above.
