As Thai fashion progresses forward on its path to becoming a world force in the world of cutting-edge clothing, the newly-launched Bangkok Fashion Society aims to play a serious role.
A consortium of twelve significant Bangkok design houses, the Society’s goals are to build Thai brands by encouraging and educating the Thai fashion industry to improve quality and presentation.
Members include Anurak, Good Mixer, Greyhound, Jim Thompson, Kloset, Mung Doo, Senada, Serit, Sretsis, Theatre, and Zenith.
The Society was co-founded by Greyhound’s Bhanu Ingkawat and Senada’s Chanita Preechawitayakul, whose own fashion can be found at their flagship stores as well as in major department stores such as Emporium.
Members pay 30,000 baht annually to assist in promotions.
Along with the Bangkok Fashion City project, the Bangkok Fashion Society group promises to enliven the Thai fashion scene with exciting fashion events, and provide a forum for young, exciting designers to gain recognition in the world market.
The Society’s public launch was held with a runway show at the Gaysorn complex on July 29, 2004.
