American University Alumni (AUA) Language Center, 73 Thanon Ratchadamnoen, Chiang Mai. tel: (053) 278-407. Located near the Tha Phae Gate in the eastern part of the old city, this school offers 30 hour introductory courses, and 60 hour courses at three different levels. Courses start at 2700 baht.

Australian Centre, Soi 5, Thanon Suthep, Chiang Mai. tel: (053) 810-552. Located 2 km west of the old city, in a traditional Thai house adjacent to Chiang Mai University, this organization offers a 30 hour course in “survival Thai.”

Baan Pasa (NES) Institute of Languages, Chayaphum Road, opposite Sompet Market, Chiang Mai. tel: (053) 233-050. There are four branches of this school in Chiang Mai, two of which are located here, just across the moat near the northwest corner of the old city.
