Art Galleries in Bangkok
While having a fine antiquities scene, Bangkok is neither the equal of Hanoi nor Saigon in terms of being a destination city for visual arts. Much of the work seen in Thai galleries is tourist kitsch, but little-by-little, a few galleries seem to be making an attempt to show something different.
Thai Oasis always recommends calling first, as hours of operation and addresses tend to change. We encourage you to visit galleries’ websites (if listed) to get an idea of what’s on exhibit. We appreciate traditional Thai art and modern, edgy, creative material as well, but will not consciously list shops selling a predominance of kitsch (e.g., clown paintings, even if the clowns are dancing the ramwong). No shop listed pays Thai Oasis a commission of any sort. Also see Bangkok Antiquities and Crafts shopping, and BTS shopping.
Art Galleries are listed according to proximity to Skytrain stations.
